Medicare “anti-markup” Limitation on Diagnostic Imaging.

CMS specifically prohibits billing Medicare in excess of the payment to a contractor (i.e. teleradiology goup). If an orthopedic group bills Medicare (CMS) in excess of the fee paid to the teleradiology group. The excess paymet is considered a markup and is prohibited except when the teleradiologist and the orhtopedic group “Share a practice” with strict restrictions.
